Meet The Artist

Amber Randall

I used to want to be a neonatal doctor, then when I got to college I wanted to be an engineer. Found out I truly suck at math(let my dad tell it) but calculus was a no go so I then decided I wanted to be an architect. Architect turned into Interior Designer and Interior Designer turned into therapist. That last one is wild actually. I did graduate from UofH (Go Coogs!) with a BS in Psychology but it was all of the random art classes that I took that made me fall in love with the arts.

Today, I am a Jr. High Art Teacher, Artist, part time Face Painter and a mommy! I truly love teaching something that I am passionate about to our younger generation and watching their creativity blossom but I also love to create as well. I truly get the best of both worlds. Being both the artist and the teacher, I'm in a unique position to learn just as much as I teach. I attribute much of my growth as an artist to being in the classroom bouncing ideas off of other creative people and exploring new techniques right along with my students.

When I am not working or creating, I'm usually wearing my mommy hat. My little artist is 5 going on 25! Much of the time, we create together and have collaborated on a few paintings together in our bonding time. Now painting and sculpting together is one of our favorite ways to spend weekends.

My artwork has always been influenced by the dimmer parts of life and finding the beauty in those things. Heartache, insecurities, poverty, sadness, and anxiety had a grip on me when I first started painting and I used painting as an outlet to express how I was feeling at the time. These days, I tend to find colorful ways to show the beauty in the mundanity of everyday life and the things that make us who we are that we don't tend to think much about sometimes like our favorite foods, hairstyles, or even the things we like to spend our money on. I am on a mission to uplift the people that look like me and struggle like me with my art to create a space where we can feel celebrated and seen.
